Our Commitment to Supplier Diversity

Diverse Suppliers

According to the National Minority Supplier Development Council, minorities will constitute more than 50 percent of the U.S. population by 2045. When corporations invest in supplier diversity programs, they acknowledge the important role these businesses play in creating a landscape where we celebrate and invest in minority entrepreneurs.

The Home Depot is committed to building inclusive and sustainable business opportunities for women, minority, veteran, disability and LGBTQ owned companies. Our Supplier Diversity program was established in 2003, with the goal of increasing shareholder value, driving innovation and creating positive economic impact in the communities we serve.

Through our partnerships with external organizations, we’re able to be a part of a network dedicated to advancing these underrepresented groups. When we work with a partner organization, we have access to thousands of certified, diverse-owned companies.

As we identify business opportunities, we’re able to work with these organizations to find the right diverse business to match our needs. When a business is certified with a partner organization, they are provided with opportunities to help them grow their business through mentorship and professional advice, education and training, networking events, and more.

We’ve recently joined five new organizations: U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Disability:IN and National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development.
