Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Development Manager is responsible for securing critical funding for NMSDC’s mission and programs. The Development Manager will support the work of the Chief Growth Officer by leading the annual fund and stewardship program, researching foundations and corporations, and providing technical support on related fundraising activities and Hispanic outreach activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to accomplish the goals of the Chief Growth Officer.
  • Contribute to NMSDCs annual fundraising goal of $5+Million (operations and capital) by managing an increasingly productive portfolio of donors with ongoing success.
  • Work to identify and qualify potential new donors through visits, phone calls, and video meetings to establish relationships that will result in gifts to NMSDC.
  • Create, execute, and track the moves management strategy for all donors in the assigned donor portfolio. Prepare monthly reports for the CGO.
  • Work with the grant writing consultant on ensuring that moves management is up to date and follow-up is being conducted.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, and marketing and communications staff to identify and implement strategies for donor research, identification, prospecting, solicitations, and cultivation.
  • Provide personal acknowledgment for donor gifts and ensure timely and appropriate thank you letters, calls, and outreach have been sent by the department.
  • Regularly analyze and report results against established goals and metrics; modify donor engagement strategies as necessary and appropriate to meet revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with other team members on special donor events or meetings including, but not limited to, major donor events, special marketing events, planned giving events, and other donor-specific events.
  • Help coordinate the monthly Steering Committee meetings and other meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain positive, active relationships with staff and donors to ensure ongoing support of NMSDC and the people we serve.
  • Must know and be able to work with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and other software programs important to the success of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of education and work experience
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
  • Highly efficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and the ability to learn proprietary systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused and timely manner
  • Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external stakeholders (food bank leadership and staff, donors, etc.). Must be able to gather and exchange accurate information in these situations. This position requires occasional local travel for meetings (reliable transportation is needed), fundraising events, or professional development opportunities. Infrequent national and/or overnight travel may be required for donor meetings or optional professional development opportunities. Occasional night, weekend, or on-call work may be required.

System Administrator

Position Summary: 

The system administrator serves as an integral member of the NMSDC IT team and the key expectations for this role are to ensure the stable operation of applications and servers, maintaining an enterprise level configuration of servers on the Azure platform, and to configure, maintain, and implement security strategies for user authentication and role-based access. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Optimize and maintain the stability of operations with applications and servers including remote direct connect servers and data repositories. 
  • Manage the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of server hardware, software, data, and other related items while maintaining an enterprise level configuration of servers on the Azure platform.
  • Configure, maintain, and implement security strategies for user authentication and role-based access while developing server design and sustaining capacity planning.
  • Diagnose and solve connectivity issues with additional systems by understanding different network domains and firewall restrictions.  
  • Manage software upgrades and patch installations, update and maintain disaster recovery strategy and testing plans. 
  • Proactively troubleshoot application and performance issues by monitoring logs and interpreting error messages. 
  • Safeguards and maintains guidelines by consistently following enterprise standards and procedures while enforcing enterprise IT data integrity and security principles. 
  • Remote support NMSDC staff, troubleshoot access/errors to our applications, and maintain IT tickets via our NMSDC IT ticketing system. 
  • Manage disaster recovery and administer backups.

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or 10 years of professional experience. 
  • Minimum five years’ experience administering and supporting servers, such as Windows or enterprise level applications. 
  • Solid Azure experience and general virtualization best practices.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and active directory. 
  • Minimum five years managing and administering a Microsoft 365 tenant. 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment while prioritizing and executing multiple projects.  
  • Work at a highly motivated level with a sense of urgency and dedication to accomplish tasks. 
  • Ability to work occasional off-hours for software upgrades, server migration, and scheduled maintenance activities.

Events Coordinator

Position Summary: 

The role of the Conferences, Meetings, and Events business unit is to support the generation of revenue, as well as raise the visibility of and increase stakeholder engagement with the National Minority Supplier Development Council through high-quality conferences, meetings and events.  Under the general direction of the director, Conferences, Meetings & Events, the event coordinator is responsible for assisting with planning, coordinating and executing cost-effective arrangements for all NMSDC conferences, meetings, and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with managing conferences, meetings and events operations and logistics; including site visits, food and beverage requirements, marketing collateral and signage development and production, vendor negotiations, contracting, budgeting, registration, program implementation, onsite management and post-event reporting.  
  • Assist with making arrangements for on-site events (i.e. room set-up, function times, audio visual, menu selections, on-site/off site events and activities, DMC operations, special events, ground transfers, room deliveries, and VIP needs).  
  • Coordinate industry group and satellite meeting (ICW) requests.  
  • Negotiate with suppliers for the best possible rates and quality in the procurement of goods and services.  
  • Work with the project manager and events management company to develop event timelines and task checklists to ensure timely implementation of all event logistical details.  
  • Provide on-site program assistance; assist with arranged details of program (i.e. attend pre-con, verify room set-ups, handle VIP needs, etc.). 
  • Assist, check, and follow up and follow through on all inquiries and requests as required.   
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties.  
  • Prepare purchase orders for payments for goods and services procured by the Conferences, Meetings and Events department, to include reimbursements to annual conference speakers, volunteers and award winners. 
  • Prepare expense reports for director, Conferences, Meetings and Events. 
  • Works with travel agency to make travel arrangements for staff attending the Annual Conference and Minority Business Economic Forum to ensure that travel arrangements are in accordance with organizational polices and guidelines. 
  • Prepare and distribute staff assignments and handbook for all events. 
  • Prepares and/or provides reports upon request. Research and /or retrieve data, as needed, for reports. 
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence for: conference host committee, vendors, award winners, industry groups, volunteers, etc. 
  • Assist with registration questions and provide support in Cvent. 
  • Assist the director, Conferences, Meetings and Events with exhibit booth inquiries.  
  • Communicate with conference speakers, award winners, volunteers and other program participants regarding their participation and arrangements, as required. 
  • Set up, maintain and breakdown function space(s) for meetings. 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar not-for-profit or business environment, preferably in event management, hospitality or fundraising/development. 
  • Computer proficiency. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, MS Sharepoint and PowerPoint are essential. Knowledge of Formsite and Cvent are pluses. 
  • Strong work ethic, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail.  
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to set priorities, and effectively and efficiently manage several projects simultaneously. 
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and proofreading. Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of people, from colleagues to sponsors and VIPs. Must have exemplary customer service skills. 
  • Use discretion in handling matters, referring those needing immediate attention and consulting other staff members as appropriate. 
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work in fast-paced office environment.

Project Manager Internship

Position Summary:

The Project Manager Internship is an integral role that will quickly add value to our Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Growth team. This position will join a small but growing team, allowing for immediate impact, while interacting with other departments, MBEs, and Corporate Members to provide support.

The Project Manager will focus on building infrastructure that connects capital managers, and capital-related services, to easily connect with our 16,000 certified MBEs. This position will manage a variety of projects, from internal marketing and communication to client opportunities. They will work directly with senior leadership and a growing team to break down barriers for MBEs to access capital — this will entail building trusted relationships across internal functions and external stakeholders. This opportunity will provide an exciting experience with building a team and exposure to a variety of high-impact projects while putting you at the heart of the MBE ecosystem.

This part-time internship will be 20 hours per week for four months. The position will be remote and will report directly to the Entrepreneur-In-Residence, VP of MBE Growth. After this role, the individual will have gained excellent knowledge of the MBE ecosystem, including sources of capital, operational resources, value chains, industry trends, and other supplier diversity activities.

NMSDC Member Success Coordinator

The Member Success Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring seamless processes across the department from member application to invoicing, payments and onboarding. The individual will be charged with assisting with event planning, sponsorship documentation and tracking, coordinating membership communications with the Marketing team, among other administrative support functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Affiliate Agreement Compliance

  • Lead annual affiliate agreement update or affirmation.
  • Oversee performance of all regional affiliate councils, assuring adherence to Affiliate Agreement and all the component requirements.
  • Ensure fulfillment and adherence to NMSDC affiliation policies and procedures.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of the delivery of services throughout the NMSDC network, per the Affiliate Agreement.

Regional Council Relationship

  • Partner with affiliate presidents to ensure the value proposition and brand of NMSDC is positioned to achieve the overall mission and goals of NMSDC.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and counsel to NMSDC’s affiliate regional councils on network policies, procedures and performance standards (KPIs).
  • Coordinate the implementation of NMSDC programs through regional councils to advocate, certify, develop, and connect MBEs and corporations, MBEs and MBEs, and MBEs and government agencies at the regional level.
  • Establish long term goals and implement short term tactics to enhance network collaboration and cohesion.
  • Ongoing training for regional council and boards.

Network Operational Efficiency

  • Ensure councils are utilizing streamlined business processes and technology solutions for operational effectiveness and efficiency through optimization of technology.
  • Rationalize network events, activities and programming to eliminate redundancy, increase efficiency, and maximize impact
  • Identify and roll out best practices in programming, service delivery, and other aspects of field

Performance Management and Reporting

  • Establish and maintain appropriate reporting mechanisms that capture ROI for corporate members and certified minority businesses.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to national office team on issues related to regional councils’ support and performance.
  • As a member of the national office Executive Leadership team, bring forth recommendations to the National CEO & President to enhance and advance performance objectives of regional affiliate councils.
  • Drive accountability: work with underperforming councils to bring performance into alignment with expectations via corrective action plans and other appropriate mechanisms.
  • Plan and implement an overall analytics and business intelligence strategy with a strong focus on data identification, collection, analysis, and reporting on SLA metrics.

Position Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the end-to-end project management to support the strategic business units and operational goals of the organization.
  • Assess business readiness, develop project scope, lead projects/programs for the transformational efforts
  • Manage day-to-day oversight of multitude of projects within the scope of PMO. The Project Manager will, in collaboration with core team members, develop working groups comprised of SMEs across cross-functional business units.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update project plans, agendas, and systems set-up for Projects. This includes determining project steps, activities, the sequence of events, critical success paths, dependencies, and the duration of tasks.
  • Establish and track milestones, and delivery dates for the Project and underlying process enhancements.
  • Identify and acquire appropriate resources needed, ensuring availability necessary for project deliverables. Manage resources within respective departments, other internal departments, outside service providers as well as materials committed to the projects.
  • Serve as a central point of contact to routinely relay, facilitate, and keep stakeholders apprised of the project’s status and respond to questions or inquiries regarding the project including delivering presentations to senior staff.
  • Maintain open communications and relationships with clients, external vendors, as well as the project team, coordinating and conducting meetings as appropriate.
  • Monitor project deliverables and progress through the duration of the project plan, managing deviations as appropriate, including project scope. Identify factors jeopardizing the project and escalates issues as appropriate, recommending solutions to senior project team members.
  • Develop and manage procurements activities (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) from development through vendor selection for assigned projects or ongoing business unit support.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in, business administration, or related field required

  • 7 or more years’ experience in project management with proven success in leading large-scale global programs at enterprise level, including full life-cycle system deployments
  • Project management experience in cross-functional systems implementations of ERP and/or CRM systems is a plus
