Sidney Johnson Bio

Sid Johnson was named senior vice president of Global Supply Chain Management in February 2006.  He is responsible for Aptiv’s supplier management functions, which comprises over 1,200 employees operating in 30 countries and ships 87 million assemblies daily.  Johnson implements progressive supply chain strategies that enable evolving business models and accelerate merger integration and enterprise growth.  A member of the Aptiv Strategy Board, Johnson reports to Aptiv President and CEO Kevin Clark.

A 17-year veteran of Aptiv (formerly Delphi Automotive, PLC), Johnson previously served as director of Global Supply Chain Management for Delphi Packard Electric, overseeing purchasing activities for a $6 Billion business unit across three regions: Asia Pacific; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and the Americas.  In this role, he built supplier capabilities and implemented global sourcing strategies that allowed for greater business flexibility and cost efficiencies.

Prior, Johnson was director, Purchasing, North America for Delphi Packard Electric, where he deployed a multinational purchasing organization around an optimized manufacturing footprint, building a culture of excellence to successfully deliver for customers.

Johnson began his career at General Motors in 1988, holding a variety of positions in operations, lean manufacturing, purchasing and quality assurance before joining Delphi in 2000.  His experiences living and working in diverse cultures around the world have given Johnson a unique and deep knowledge of how to effectively partner with the business to drive transformational strategies and innovation.

Johnson is vice chair of the National Minority Development Council Board of Directors and a board member of the International Trade Centre, a joint agency between the World Trade Organization and the United Nations.  He is also the former chair of the Institute for Supply Management Board of Directors.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and technology from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and a master’s degree in industrial management from Wesleyan University in Indianapolis. He is a Certified Professional in Supply Management®.

Johnson and his wife have two children and have just relocated home from Dublin, Ireland.
