In mid-2020, Carla Wright assumed the role of Supplier Relations Group Manager within the Purchasing Supplier Development division for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). Located at Toyota’s R&D headquarters in Saline, MI, this role becomes the latest in Ms. Wright’s long career with Toyota which began in 1999. Throughout that time, Ms. Wright has held multiple executive leadership roles within Toyota’s Engineering function including stints in Data Management, Technical Strategy, Cost Planning and to her current role with Purchasing Supplier Development.
In addition to her executive responsibilities, she serves as R&D’s regional Diversity and Inclusion Champion, where she focuses on building a strong STEM pipeline for under-represented populations. She also had a key role in the genesis of three Professional Business Partnering Group (BPG) chapters at R&D. She was the executive sponsor of the R&D Young Professional BPG, an organization which brings young professionals within R&D together for career development and best practice sharing. She served on the original Executive Board for the Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF), now known as Women Influencing and Impacting Toyota (WIIT), and was a driving force behind the development of SPECTRUM, an organization whose mission is to foster an inclusive and supportive work environment that engages the talents and passions of the LGBTQ and Ally team members through collaborative and educational programs to fully realize Toyota’s mission. Prior to joining Toyota, Ms. Wright spent time in education as an elementary teacher.
Carla was born and raised in Michigan and attended Madonna University in Livonia, where she earned a B.A. degree in Education.
