The COVID-19 pandemic and civil protests have put many Black-owned businesses across the U.S. at risk of permanent closure. To support these businesses, the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) launched the “In This Together” campaign. Its president and CEO Adrienne Trimble also called on corporate leaders to take definitive action and stand up against the systemic racial barriers plaguing American society.
The NMSDC called on corporate leaders to help Black-owned businesses by supporting PPP Funding access, the Minority Business Advocacy Initiative, the NMSDC Business Consortium Fund, the REBUILDING Fund that was created to invest in minority business struggling to recover from the pandemic and the NMSDC Academy that provides immersive professional development and learning opportunities for MBEs.
The Coca-Cola Company was the first to respond and pledge support for NMSDC’s “In This Together” campaign. To date, 34 other corporations have pledged their support including Amgen Inc., AT&T, Citrix Systems Inc., ExxonMobil and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
