About NMSDC
Founded in 1972, the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) is the nation’s longest-operating organization focused on expanding access to business opportunities through competitive, market-based engagement.
NMSDC’s work extends beyond supply chain development. We connect minority-owned businesses and corporate partners to support growth, innovation, and participation in the American free-market economy.
Our mission is to broaden access to opportunity by strengthening pathways to capital, markets, and business relationships for qualified enterprises, helping businesses compete, scale, and succeed.
Our Mission
We foster strategic, market-based connections between NMSDC-certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and a national network of corporate partners, public-sector stakeholders, and other enterprises.
These relationships support innovation, accelerate business growth, and strengthen the resilience, agility, and reliability of supply chains across industries.
Our Vision
To be the leading organization strengthening competitive supply chains and expanding access to opportunity by connecting capable businesses to markets, capital, and growth pathways across the American economy.
NMSDC envisions an economy in which minority-owned businesses compete, scale, and succeed as integral contributors to innovation, resilience, and long-term economic growth.
Through market-based engagement, trusted partnerships, and capability-building initiatives, NMSDC works to broaden participation in the free-enterprise system and help businesses create lasting value for their customers, employees, and communities.
Our Impact
For more than 50 years, NMSDC has expanded access to business opportunities by connecting capable minority-owned enterprises with corporations and partners across the country through competitive, market-based engagement.
NMSDC’s network has connected more than 17,000 certified MBEs with over 500 large national corporate members, supporting significant economic activity across industries. Today, certified minority-owned businesses within the NMSDC network collectively generate $599.7 billion in annual economic output, support over 2 million jobs, and contribute $168 billion in total wages to the U.S. economy.
As the nation’s largest nonprofit organization focused on minority business development, NMSDC demonstrates the power of business growth to strengthen supply chains, create jobs, and drive long-term economic resilience. When businesses compete and scale, the broader economy benefits.

Our Network
NMSDC operates through a national network of 23 regional affiliates and strategic partners that work collaboratively to support more than 17,000 certified MBEs and over 500 large national corporate members across the United States.
Through this affiliate network, NMSDC delivers certification, convening, and business development engagement at the local and regional level, while maintaining uniform national standards and a shared commitment to market-based growth.
NMSDC also extends its reach globally through the Global-Link International Program, partnering with nongovernmental organizations in other countries to share best practices and support the development of supplier ecosystems aligned with competitive global markets.
These international partnerships create opportunities for U.S.-based businesses to connect with international firms, explore strategic collaborations, and expand access to global supply chains.
