The State of Oregon and City of Portland recently expressed a commitment to expand contracting opportunities for certified minority owned and operated small businesses. To promote economic growth and equity, the city seeks to maximize the participation of minority suppliers.
Portland, Oregon is currently seeking minority owned firms to participate or bid on city projects for goods and services. Minority business enterprises (MBEs) interested in providing such goods or services, can register with the City of Portland at: https://procure.portlandoregon.gov/bso/. Once registered, businesses will receive automatic notices when a project that matches their expertise is posted to the City of Portland’s website (projects range from $150,000 and beyond).
In addition, MBEs can also register with the State of Oregon at: https://sos.oregon.gov to take advantage of contracting opportunities throughout the state. MBEs registered with the State of Oregon as Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity (COBID) firms, will receive automatic notices of projects that range from $10,000 – $150,000 that are specifically reserved for qualified COBID firms.
These are great opportunities for MBEs to take advantage of Portland and Oregon’s proactive approaches to diversifying their contractors.
Please contact Cynthia Phillips, senior procurement specialist for the City of Portland at cindy.phillips@portlandoregon.gov for more information about either of these opportunities.
