Carlton L. Oneal is President LightSpeedEdu, Inc., a privately-owned eLearning and communications firm. LightSpeedEdu specializes in eLearning, motion graphics, and multimedia video development. This includes eLearning course design, development and production, educational and promotional message development, creative/motivational messaging, video editing and post-production. He is chiefly responsible for overall business development and growth of the company through the strategic expanded presence in the marketplace. Mr. Oneal also consults with clients to develop eLearning and communication strategies in addition to programs that enhance the distribution and acceptance of educational, promotional, and informational messages intended to impact staff performance. He guides the concept development; content generation and production of educational deliverables and he coordinates the overall construction of key client messages.
Mr. Oneal joined the firm full time in 2002 bringing 18 years of corporate experience to his consulting practice with a breadth and depth of management experiences in Marketing, Sales, Communication, Training & Development with Merck and Co, Inc. Prior to consulting, his most recent assignments included Deputy Director Scientific Affairs, Head of Strategic Operations for Scientific Relations, and Director of U.S. Marketing-Cardiovascular/Metabolic products for Bayer pharmaceuticals where he led a $130M product portfolio that achieved or exceeded growth targets each year while under his direction.
Carlton has an exemplary ability to develop, mentor, and lead teams in addition to having excellent interpersonal skills. Throughout his career, he has helped personnel leverage their talents through his personal coaching and facilitation of High-Performance Team workshops, development of effective communications initiatives, and diversity training workshops.
Mr. Oneal served on the Board of Directors of the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council from 2007 – 2017. He was elected by his peers to serve as the Chairperson of the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Input Committee for three terms (6 years), and in 2012, was elected National MBE Input Committee Secretary. He was re-elected to the position and began a third term as National MBE Input Committee Secretary in January 2018. In December 2020, he was elected Chair of the National MBE Input Committee. As a result, he serves as a member of the NMSDC Board of Directors, and Executive Committee.
Carlton graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University in 1981. After completing Post Baccalaureate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park in 1985, he continued his education with certifications from the Mendoza School of Business, Notre Dame University, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and Babson College’s 10,000 Small Businesses Program.
Carlton is married and he and his wife reside in the Town of Hamden, Connecticut where he served as the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission for 8 years. For fun and relaxation, he enjoys training in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do. He earned a promotion to the rank of 5th degree Black Belt in June of 2022.
