Derek Cantey is a Supplier Diversity senior manager for Wells Fargo. With over 30 years of experience in supply chain and supplier diversity, he leads a team that is responsible for increasing diverse spend growth across the enterprise and developing initiatives to enhance the growth and development of diverse businesses. Derek joined Wells Fargo in 1988.

Throughout his career, Cantey has held various positions within Wells Fargo’s Supply Chain Management and procurement groups, working closely with internal lines of business to develop strategies and processes to increase the utilization of diverse suppliers. He also works and collaborates with non-profit organizations to create programs to educate and inform diverse suppliers on corporate procurement and supplier diversity practices. Cantey serves on the board of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Carolinas-Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council, and the Financial & Insurance Group (National Minority Supplier Development Council industry group).

He was past chairperson of the Carolinas Virginia Minority Council, and Financial Services Roundtable for Supplier Diversity and past board member of the Women Business Enterprise Council. Cantey has been featured by MBN USA as one of the “Top 75 Leading Men in Supplier Diversity and has received numerous other awards for his leadership in supplier diversity, including the President’s Award for “Commitment to Supplier Diversity” by the North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development.
