The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) is excited to announce that Fernando Martinez will join its executive leadership team in the newly created and pivotal role of senior vice president of network success. Martinez comes to this role from the Northwest Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council, where he served as president and CEO for the past 14 years. He joins the team on Feb. 20 and will serve as NMSDC’s principal network strategist, providing the leadership, strategy, and management needed to ensure the NMSDC network moves as one to increase the growth of NMSDC-certified minority business enterprises (MBEs) across the nation.

With over 30 years of experience in sales and operations, Martinez has managed and led business units within Washington Mutual, Xerox, Starbucks, and Westin Hotels. His leadership skills have resulted in successful collaboration between operations and sales to continuously deliver growing year-over-year efficiencies, revenue, and profits. He currently serves as a member of the City of Seattle’s Women and Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) Advisory Committee, Seattle Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and America of Western Washington board of directors.

“We are incredibly excited to have Fernando join NMSDC National Office as we look to strengthen the NMSDC network for the next 50 years,” said NMSDC CEO and president, Ying McGuire. “Not only does he bring invaluable knowledge of how a regional council executes on our shared mission, but his background leading key initiatives and experience collaborating across the NMSDC network will enable NMSDC to better serve our corporate members and MBEs.”

Martinez joins NMSDC at an especially important period in the organization’s history. His leadership and connections throughout the supplier diversity community, as well as his experience leading regional council presidents as chair of the President’s Council from 2013-2014, will enable NMSDC to modernize and execute its strategic organizational design and certification process. These efforts are key to accelerating MBE growth to $1 trillion in annual certified MBE revenue, advancing economic equity, and creating a more united and prosperous society for all.
