Advocacy

The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) congratulates Donald Cravins, Jr. on his U.S. Senate-confirmed appointment as undersecretary of commerce for the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) promotes the growth of minority owned businesses through the mobilization and advancement of public and private sector programs, policy, and research. It accomplishes this by funding a network of centers that provide minority business enterprises (MBEs) business assistance services. The work of this agency is directly aligned with NMSDC’s mission of supporting MBEs to drive socioeconomic equity and create wealth for communities of color. NMSDC has been a strategic partner of MBDA for five decades.

“I am extremely excited for Don’s appointment to the MBDA. His leadership and experience will help the agency take the bold steps needed to create the environment for NMSDC-certified MBEs to reach our goal of $1 trillion in annual revenue generation, said NMSDC CEO and president,” Ying McGuire.

Cravins’ work with the National Urban League and his years of experience driving small business development and entrepreneurship make him well suited for this role. NMSDC is excited for his appointment to MBDA and looks forward to the positive impact his guidance will have on MBE growth in the United States.
