National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) CEO and President Ying McGuire is being honored by the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC) as a “Pillar of the Community” at its Ovation X Gala on Saturday, Dec. 3.
As part of this honor, the organization also renamed its APA Community Organization Award to the Ying McGuire Community Organization of the Year Award. The award recognizes an organization or community leader that specifically serves the APA (Asian Pacific American) community in the creative field. This year’s recipient is the Austin Venture Association.
“I am humbled and honored to not only be named a pillar of the community by such an important institution in Austin, a city I am proud to call home, but to also have such an important award named after me. Congratulations to the Austin Venture Association and all those recognized at this year’s Ovation X Gala,” said NMSDC CEO and President Ying McGuire.
“The Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce is an important partner in NMSDC’s work to create greater economic opportunity for the AAPI community and I look forward to our continued partnership as we work towards creating a more equitable U.S. economy that works for all,” she added.
GAACC engages with members of the central Texas business community, governmental entities, and nonprofit organizations to help drive local economic growth for businesses with ties to or allyship with Asia and Asian Americans. GAACC works to develop Austin’s global business connectivity while promoting regional economic equity for all.
Ovation X is the annual celebration of Asia Pacific American heritage and accomplishments hosted by the GAACC. As this year marks the 10-year anniversary of the GAACC’s establishment, the gala will look back on the incredible achievements of the Asian Pacific American business community throughout the past decade, while looking ahead to imagine what Austin will be like in 2032. The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the JW Marriott in downtown Austin.
