A long-term, politically motivated effort to extinguish the role of diversity in America’s economic system has reached a critical crossroads thanks to the highly coordinated efforts of hyper-partisan organizations like the American Alliance for Equal Rights. It recently filed a lawsuit against the Fearless Fund and Fearless Foundation, an Atlanta-based venture capital fund and nonprofit that invests in and supports women of color entrepreneurs. It is accusing them of racial bias in private contracts and has put a leading champion for advancing women of color entrepreneurs in extreme jeopardy. And while these organizations are doing everything they can to push back against this baseless lawsuit, they can’t do it alone. That’s where you come in.
Along with our coalition partners, NMSDC is pushing back and announcing the official launch of the #WeAreAllFearless giving campaign. As part of this year’s Giving Tuesday fundraising efforts, we are asking our community to come out and support the Fearless Foundation’s defense against this highly cynical attack on a more just and equitable economy that works for all. So how can you help?
- Donate to the #WeAreAllFearless campaign by visiting the campaign website. Any amount you can afford will help the Fearless Foundation defend against this lawsuit but more importantly, allow them to continue to serve women of color across the nation as we await the verdict.
- Post messages of support and encourage others in your network to participate by posting messages leading up to Giving Tuesday and on Giving Tuesday promoting the campaign using the #WeAreAllFearless hashtag. We have a social media toolkit available with social media cards, graphics, suggested posts, and more.
- Join the viral social media takeover campaign and change your social media header image and profile image to #WeAreAllFearless graphics from November 14-28. The social media kit also has several graphics and cards for posting.
Make no mistake. This is an assault on everything organizations like NMSDC and our partners have been fighting for over the last five decades. This movement seeks to dismantle the greater economic opportunities traditionally marginalized communities of color, women, LGBTQ individuals, veterans, and others have achieved thanks to the efforts of forward-looking organizations like the Fearless Foundation. If left unchallenged, it will come for us all. In fact, depending on how this lawsuit ends, it could have ripple effects that pose severe repercussions for the minority business community and the future well-being of the U.S. economy.
Thankfully, we know there is power in our network. Whether you’re a minority business owner, an NMSDC corporate member, or one of our many allies in the march toward greater economic equity, your support has helped us accomplish great things. But we’re not finished. Not by a long shot. So, we ask you to join us in this campaign as we come together to build a movement of our own. One capable of not just supporting the Fearless Foundation, but also everyone who is boldly standing up for a more diverse, inclusive, and prosperous nation. Together, we can rise from the ashes of this conflict to build a brighter future for us all.
