As 2021 draws to a close, I wanted to reach out to all of you in the NMSDC community to thank you for participating and engaging with our work, supporting us, funding us, and inspiring us. You have helped us create an impact where it matters and achieve more than we thought possible.
Our network is unmatched:
- 15,000+ Certified MBEs
- 1,500+ Corporate Members
- 23 Regional Councils
- NMSDC Business Consortium Fund/CDFI
- 5 International Affiliates
- Expanded NGO and Government partnerships
Our results are extraordinary:
- $400 billion in economic output annually
- $48 billion generated in tax revenue
- 2.2 million jobs
However, we have a long way to go to close the racial wealth gap and achieve economic equity. As we look ahead to 2022 and our 50th year anniversary, we will be taking game-changing actions to deliver on our renewed mission: serve as a growth engine for NMSDC certified minority businesses and enable our members to advance economic equity. In mid to late January, we will be hosting webinars to share with you our newly crafted strategic plan, as well as our approach to activate the plan and solicit your input and engagement. We are so excited about all that 2022 has in store for us – enthusiasm and anticipation are building around unprecedented new opportunities in front of us. Stay tuned for more details in the new year.
On a personal note, what a year it has been for me! I have never experienced such a drastic change in my professional life transitioning from the tech industry to non-profit. Never have I received so much outpouring of support from so many of you for a new role. It’s been an absolutely rewarding experience to learn and lead this storied FOR IMPACT organization. I look forward to continuing this journey together with you and making it the best it can be. Together, we will make this decade the turning point in the story of minority business development.
I hope you all have a happy and peaceful holiday season. As the new Omicron variant continues to spread through the US, please stay safe and be well.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
Best Regards,
Ying
