New York, NY— The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) have partnered to create the Power to Impact in historically underserved communities with the mission and vision to assist the youth to find their purpose in the world through entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
The community service event, entitled Power to Impact: Real Talks will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 4:00–5:30PM CST, and feature young entrepreneurs creating waves in the marketplace as part of NMSDC’s commitment to inspire the next generation of minority business owners.
The panel will be moderated by Akil Alvin, from Digital Detroit Media, with the following young entrepreneurs:
- Jahkil Jackson, Founder, Project I AM (14 years old)
- Olivia Dixon, Founder, Eye Lens Cohort (10 years old)
- Caden Harris, CEO, Caden Tech (11 years old)
- Brandon Martinez & Sebastian Martinez, Founders, Are You Kidding Me Socks (15 & 13 years old)
“We serve as a growth engine for MBEs, and it is never to early to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in the next generation,” comments Ying McGuire, CEO and President of NMSDC. “It was important for us to kick off our inaugural Minority Business Economic Forum with these young entrepreneurs who are paving the way and helping to close the generational wealth gap for communities of color. And we could not do this without the support of BMS and their leadership in this program.”
VIP and Premier attendees of the Minority Business Economic Forum have been invited to attend, along with guests from both NMSDC and BMS. If you are interested in covering this event, please contact Stefan Bradham, NMSDC’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications at stefan.bradham@nmsdc.org.
